DED and TAAJEEL launch ‘Drive-through’ service to boost customer happiness

Dubai - MENA Herald: The Department of Economic Development in partnership with the TAAJEEL Centre has introduced a drive-through service for business registration and licensing in line with the order of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, to transform all service centres in government departments into centres for customer happiness as directed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

The ‘Drive-through’ service also forms part of the ‘Hassle-free’ initiative of DED and ongoing efforts to offer a flexible smart service platform to facilitate business registration and licensing. Customers can drive to the TAAJEEL Centre and complete business registration and licensing procedures on their smart phones without leaving the comfort of their cars.

The new service was launched by His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of DED, in the presence of Omar Bushahab, CEO of Business Registration & Licensing (BRL) sector in DED and Najla Ibrahim Al Shamsi, General Manager of TAJEEL and a number of senior officials from both sides.

Al Qamzi said the new service marks a quantum leap in DED’s efforts to make procedures easier for businessmen and investors through innovative smart services and contribute to accomplishing the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum to transform Dubai into a smart city by 2017.

“The Department of Economic Development is on a constant pursuit of excellence and global leadership in service delivery. The Drive-through service is the first of its kind in the region and we will continue to leverage state-of-the-art information and communications technology to launch more such initiatives and solutions for the benefit of our customers,” said Al Qamzi.

The Drive-through service provides holders of business licenses in Dubai with three options; they can download the ‘TAAJEEL’ app on their smart phones and select the service, call toll-free hotline, or request the service by e-mail. The service centre will immediately contact the customer with information on the necessary documents and procedures. The customer can then drive by the service centre, drop his papers and have them reviewed and collected by a TAAJEEL representative. The service centre will alert the customer on completion of transaction via SMS and the license will be delivered to the address specified by the customer.

Omar Bushahab said the partnership with TAAJEEL and the launch of Drive-through service reflect the directive of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum to support and empower entrepreneurs and citizens in the UAE as well as encourage them to launch their own businesses and embrace best international practices, thereby strengthening the UAE as an entrepreneurial hub.

“Our focus is on spreading happiness, and on supporting the governance model based on happiness and positivity. The initiatives we launch emphasises on happiness for everyone, from the employee who provides our services to our customers and partners in the private sector. The Drive-through service will cut waiting time for license holders and also complement the efforts to enhance ease of business in Dubai, further reinforcing Dubai as a preferred investment destination,” added Bushahab.

Najla Ibrahim Al Shamsi also linked the new service to the Smart Dubai initiative of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and said her team is committed to the vision of the leadership to keep Dubai at the forefront of innovation and customer access to the latest technology.

“We thank DED for their confidence in us and the level of co-operation and co-ordination between us will lead to a delightful customer experience. The TAJEEL Centre has an easily accessible location next to the Deira City Centre, with ample space for customers to drive and park,” said Al Shamsi.

Omar Al Muhairi, Director of Development & Follow-up Management in BRL added: “The Business Registration & Licensing sector in DED maintains diverse channels to receive customers and serve them. In addition to the branch offices of DED, we have outsourced service centres that provide most of the BRL services under a single roof. We are committed to delivering the best solutions and innovative services that ensure optimum customer satisfaction and happiness. The Government of Dubai has the required technology tools and human resources to achieve those goals.”
